A good butter cake should be flavorful, yet not overly sweet, tender and somewhat dense in texture, but certainly not dry.

  • 6 tbsp. softened butter
  • 1 tsp. vanilla extract
  • 1/2 c. superfine sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 tbsp. milk
