  1. Preheat the oven to 350 ºF.

  2. In a large bowl, stir together the oats and whole wheat.

  3. Add the peanut butter and hot water and stir or knead the dough until thoroughly combined. If the dough appears dry, add additional hot water, 1 tablespoon at a time.

  4. Turn the dough out onto a lightly floured surface. Roll the dough to 1/4-inch thickness then use a cookie cutter to cut out the desired shapes. Scraps can be re-rolled.

  5. Arrange the cookies on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.

  6. Bake the cookies for 30 minutes, or until they are crunchy. Transfer the cookies to a cooling rack and let rest until completely cooled.
