Ingredients
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 3 Tablespoons water
- 1 teaspoon fresh lemon juice
- Pinch of salt
- 2 Tablespoons heavy cream
- 1 Tablespoon unsalted butter
- 1/2 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
- 3 or 4 Granny Smith apples, peeled, cored and quartered
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350 ºF.
- Simmer 1/2 cup sugar, water, lemon juice and salt in a skillet over medium heat. Cook, swirling the pan, until the mixture is golden brown (about 6-8 minutes).
- Remove the skillet from the heat and stir in the dream, butter and vanilla. Allow the caramel to cool slightly.
- Arrange the apples in the semi-cooled caramel, packing them tightly together. Set aside.
