Ingredients
1 c. sugar
3/4 c. margarine or butter
2 large eggs
1 tsp. vanilla extract
3 c. all-purpose flour
1 tbsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt
1 large egg white
3 tbsp. sesame seeds
Instructions
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. In large bowl, with mixer at medium speed, beat sugar with margarine or butter until creamy. Beat in eggs and vanilla (mixture may look curdled). At low speed, beat in flour, baking powder, and salt just until blended, occasionally scraping bowl with rubber spatula.
Divide dough in half. Wrap 1 half with plastic wrap; set aside. Working with other half of dough, with lightly floured hands, shape 1 tablespoon dough at a time into 7-inch-long rope; bring ends of rope together and gently twist several times.
Place cookies, 1 inch apart, on ungreased large cookie sheet. Brush cookies with some egg white; sprinkle with some sesame seeds.
Bake cookies 15 to 18 minutes, until golden. Transfer cookies to wire rack to cool. Repeat with remaining dough, egg white, and sesame seeds. Store cookies in tightly covered container up to 2 weeks.
