We dress steamed broccoli with a mixture of bread crumbs and gremolata, an Italian garnish of lemon, parsley, and garlic that is served as a topping on anything from stews to vegetables.

Ingredients

  • 1 lemon
  • 1 bag broccoli florets
  • 2 tbsp. water
  • 1 tsp. olive oil
  • 1 clove garlic
  • 1 slice firm white bread
  • 1/4 tsp. salt
  • 2 tbsp. chopped fresh parsley leaves

Instructions

  1. From lemon, grate 1/2 teaspoon peel and squeeze 1 tablespoon juice.
  2. In microwave-safe bowl, place broccoli and water. Cover with vented plastic wrap and cook in microwave on High 4 to 5 minutes or until tender-crisp.
  3. Meanwhile, in small skillet, heat oil on medium-high. Add garlic and cook 30 seconds. Stir in lemon peel, bread crumbs, and salt and toss to combine; remove skillet from heat and stir in parsley.
  4. Drain broccoli if necessary; transfer to serving bowl and toss with lemon juice. Sprinkle crumb mixture over broccoli to serve.
