Ingredients

  • 3 1/4 cups whole milk
  • 1 cup quick-cooking grits
  • 1/2 stick butter
  • 1/4 cup cheddar cheese, grated
  • 1/2 teaspoon kosher salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper, freshly ground
  • bacon crumbles, for serving

Instructions

  1. In a medium saucepan, bring the milk to a boil over medium-high heat.
  2. Add the grits, 1/2 teaspoon of salt, 1/4 teaspoon of pepper and the butter. Cook and stir frequently, until the grits are soft.
  3. Stir in cheese and bacon.
