Ingredients
- 2 cups butter, softened
- 2 cups sugar
- 2 eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 5 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
Instructions
- In a large bowl, cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in eggs and vanilla. Combine the flour, baking soda and salt; gradually add to creamed mixture and mix well. Cover and chill for 20 minutes or until easy to handle.
- On a lightly floured surface, roll out to 1/4-in. thickness. Cut with floured 3-in. cookie cutters. Place 1 in. apart on ungreased baking sheets. Bake at 350 ° for 10-12 minutes or until lightly browned. Cool on wire racks.
- For frosting, in a large bowl, beat butter and cream cheese. Add the confectioners' sugar, salt and enough milk to achieve spreading consistency. Tint frosting with food coloring and decorate with sprinkles as desired.
