if you want to do a cooking episode on this channel please submit video idea to http://TheBestSauces.com/CookingWithJackToo Here is the recipe: Ingredients 2 boxes White cake mix 2 cups water 1 cup oil 6 egg Whites ½ teaspoons vanilla 6 times * one half for each smaller bowl* Food coloring gel Frosting *inside layers* ½ cup shortening ½ cup butter 1 1lb bag powdered sugar 1-2 tablespoons milk * more if needed* A mug A piping bag with large tip or heavy duty Ziplock bag and scissors **outside frosting of cake** 1 cup shortening 1 cup butter *2 sticks* 1 2lb bag powdered sugar 2 teaspoons vanilla 3-4 tablespoons milk *more if needed* Directions Preheat your oven to 350*, spray, butter or line your cake pan. In a large bowl mix box cake with your oil, water and egg whites until clumps are dissolved. Divide into 6 smaller bowls. Color each bowl with your food coloring gel * red blue= purple, red yellow= orange* the more coloring you put in the darker the colors. Add ½ teaspoon of vanilla to each bowl. Mix well. Pour your colored mix into the cake and bake for 12 minutes. Make sure you put a toothpick in the center to check if it's done. If it comes out with batter put back in for 5 minutes but watch closely. Toothpick should come out clean. Remove the cake from the pan and put on a cooling rack, (if you used parchment paper you remove this now so the cake can cool properly.) repeat the process. You may need to do this step up to 5 more times if you only have one cake pan. If you have 2 you can cook 2 cakes at once. Just do 3 bake intervals. Frosting directions Beat the shortening and butter until light yellow. On low slowing add in some of the powdered sugar. Add your vanilla and more sugar; add your milk 1 tablespoon at a time along with more of the sugar. Do this process until the ingredients are incorporated. Once incorporated put mixer on a higher setting and beat until light, fluffy and creamy. For the frosting that goes on the inside layers you will need get your mug set on a flat surface, put your piping back or Ziploc bag in the mug and fold sides of bag over the mug. Add your smaller batch of frosting to the bag. Once all the frosting is in the bag twist top, set aside. Get a plate or cake pedestal place a parchment round or piece of decorative cardboard place on your plate and set your 1st round down which will be Purple. With your piping bag, pipe out ribbons of the frosting in a circular pattern, repeat steps for each following color except for the top red layer. The color pattern goes from the bottom, Purple, blue, green, yellow, orange and ending with Red on the top. Now you're going to take a large amount of frosting and dirty ice your cake, which is a thin layer over the outside to seal in your crumbs and cracks. Start with a large amount on top of the cake and work your way to the sides evenly. At this point you can leave the dirty ice to sit over night to set it or you can go right into your final layer of frosting. For the final outside layer of frosting you will need again to start with a large amount of frosting on top and you're going to again work your way down the sides. Once you have it evenly spread out you're going to take a butter knife or frosting spatula and smooth out your frosting, * I use a flat side of a butter knife and a little warm water and paper towel* Once your frosting looks good you're going to either leave it with just a white frosting or you can decorate in any way you like, sprinkles, m&m's, skittles... whatever you chose. Here is where you can get creative.
