Ingredients

  • 1 cup ketchup, preferably Heinz
  • 1 cup apple cider vinegar
  • 1/4 cup plus 1 tablespoon granulated sugar
  • 2 tablespoons salt
  • 1 tablespoon ground black pepper
  • 3/4 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes
  • Pinch ground red pepper

Instructions

  1. Combine the ketchup, vinegar, sugar, salt, black pepper, red pepper flakes, ground red pepper and 1 quart of water in a large pot and bring to a boil, stirring occasionally. Serve hot with cooked meat.
