Tender tamarind leaves dal or chinta chiguru pappu is a common dish from the Andhra cuisine cooked with dal (lentil), chinta chiguru and mildly spiced. Goes well with rice, chapati or rotiThe young tender tamarind leaves have a subtle tart flavor without being overly bitter or sour. You can add quite a lot of these exotic tender greens to the recipe your cooking without turning whatever you are cooking to an inedibly sour or bitter taste, also increasing your nutrient intake and give your taste buds a real treat."Chinta chiguru" is a highly recommended green to all the nutrition-conscious. http://www.vahrehvah.com/tendertamrindleaves-dal Ingredients 1 tsp Butter bunch Coriander leaves 1 tsp Cumin Seed 1 Curry Leaves 1 tsp Garlic Paste 4 - 5 Green Chillies 1 tsp Mustard Seeds 1 tbsp OIL 1 small Onion Salt (To taste) 1 cup Tender tamarind leaves ( Chinta Chiguru) 1 cup Toor dal pinch Turmeric powder water-as required Directions 1. Clean and Boil Dal keep it aside 2.Take a pan add Oil saute mustard seeds,Cumin seeds,chopped onions,garlic paste, turmeric,green chillies,curry leaves,salt, saute this for few min. 3. Now add tender tamarind leaves add little water and let it cook for 5 min. 4. Add boiled dal let it cook for another 5 min lastly add chopped coriander leaves.
