Betty demonstrates how to make Salted Caramel Rice Krispies Treats. These are everyone's favorite Rice Krispies Treats, flavored with trendy, luscious Salted Caramel.
Salted Caramel Rice Krispies Treats
6 cups Rice Krispies cereal
½ cup butter
½ cup dark brown sugar, firmly packed
¼ cup heavy whipping cream
1 tablespoon light corn syrup
½ teaspoon coarse sea salt (plus extra sea salt for sprinkling top)
10.5 ounces miniature marshmallows
cooking oil spray
Place cereal in a very large mixing bowl and set aside. In a medium-sized heavy pot, melt butter over medium heat. When butter is melted, add brown sugar, whipping cream, and corn syrup. Cook, stirring occasionally, until thickened—about 7 minutes. Stir in sea salt. Remove from heat and immediately stir in marshmallows, until marshmallows are melted. Quickly pour caramel mixture over Rice Krispies in bowl. Stir until all Rice Krispies are coated with caramel. Pour into an 8-inch by 8-inch Pyrex baking dish that has been sprayed with cooking oil spray. Press down with a piece of parchment paper that has been sprayed on the bottom side with cooking oil spray. Sprinkle top with coarse sea salt, to taste. Cool completely, and then cut into 16 squares. I think you will love this treat! --Betty :)
