A classical dal preparation from Bengal with channa dal and garnished with coconut and sweetned with jaggery, served with soft loochies http://www.vahrehvah.com/bengali-cholar-dal Ingredients: Channa dal (Bengal gram dal) 200 g Ghee 2 tb Red chilly 2 n Bay leaves 2 n Cumin seeds ½ ts Cloves 4 n Turmeric ½ ts Ginger chopped 1 ts Green chilly 4 n Raisins 6 n Salt Coconut (small pieces) 2 tb Sugar 2 tb Coriander chopped 1 b Garam masala 1 pinch Directions: First soak channa dal for 1 hour and pressure cook it till tender.
