  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 6 tablespoons chilled unsalted butter, cut into 1/2-inch pieces
  • 2 tablespoons chilled solid vegetable shortening, cut into 1/2-inch pieces
  • 3 tablespoons (about) ice water

Instructions

  1. Blend flour, sugar, and salt in processor. Add butter and shortening; cut in using on/off turns until mixture resembles coarse meal. Blend in enough ice water using on/off turns until dough begins to form clumps. Gather dough into ball; flatten into disk. Wrap in plastic and refrigerate 1 hour.
