Cinnamon is one of the best ingredients that someone with insulin sensitivity can eat. Half a teaspoon of cinnamon per day has been shown to be very effective at normalizing blood sugar levels. Cinnamon contains hydroxychalcone, which is thought to enhance the effects of insulin. It has also been suggested that Cinnamon prevents post-meal blood sugar spikes by slowing the gastric emptying rate - meaning that food digests slowly. 1/4 cup heavy cream
1 teaspoon sugar
1 cinnamon-apple herbal tea bag
1 cup half-and-half
1/2 cup canned pumpkin puree
3 tablespoons packed light brown sugar
2 teaspoons pumpkin pie spice
Bring a small pot of water to a boil. In a medium bowl, using an electric mixer on high, whip cream with sugar until soft peaks form.
In a heatproof cup, pour 1 cup boiling water over tea bag. Steep for 3 minutes; discard bag.
In a large measuring cup, mix half-and-half, pumpkin, brown sugar and pumpkin pie spice. Microwave on high until hot, about 2 minutes. Whisk in tea. Pour into mugs and top with whipped cream.
