Ingredients
- 1 lemon
- 1 orange
- 1/4 c. sugar
- 1/4 c. water
- 1 c. raspberries, blackberries, blueberries, or sliced strawberries
Instructions
- With vegetable peeler, remove one 3" by 1" strip peel from lemon and orange. Squeeze 1 tablespoon juice from each.
- In 1-quart saucepan, combine lemon peel, orange peel, sugar, and water; heat to boiling over high heat. Reduce heat to low; add berries and simmer, uncovered, 5 minutes. Remove saucepan from heat. Let stand until cool, about 30 minutes. Remove and discard lemon and orange peels.
- In blender, pulse berry mixture until pureed. Pour puree into medium-mesh sieve set over bowl; press with back of spoon to remove seeds. Discard seeds. Stir in lemon and orange juices. Cover and refrigerate syrup about 1 hour or until cold, or up to 1 week. Serve syrup over ice cream, yogurt, or fresh fruit, or mix with seltzer for a refreshing cooler.
