Ingredients
- 2 lb boneless beef round steak, cut into 8 pieces
- 1/3 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 3/4 teaspoon pepper
- 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
- 1 cup chopped onion
- 3 medium carrots, chopped (1 1/2 cups)
- 2 medium stalks celery, sliced (1 cup)
- 1 cup Progresso™ beef flavored broth (from 32-oz carton)
- 1/2 cup red wine or Progresso™ beef flavored broth
- 1 can (15 oz) tomato sauce
- 1 teaspoon dried minced garlic
Instructions
- In 1-gallon resealable food-storage plastic bag, place beef, flour, salt and pepper; seal bag. Shake to coat beef evenly.
- In 12-inch nonstick skillet, heat 1 tablespoon of the oil over medium-high heat. Add half of the beef; cook 4 to 5 minutes, turning once, until browned on all sides. Repeat with remaining oil and beef.
- Spray 3 1/2- to 4-quart slow cooker with cooking spray. In cooker, place onion, carrots and celery; place beef on top. In medium bowl, mix broth, wine, tomato sauce and garlic. Pour over beef.
- Cover; cook on Low heat setting 7 to 9 hours.
